New Year's Resolutions
We all make them, and very few of us stick to them. When we set a goal for a patient in physical therapy, there are certain guidelines we follow. When I am setting a goal in my personal life, I try to keep the same things in mind. Is it realistic? Is it attainable? Is it measureable? It is much easier to stay on course if you know where the finish line is. So rather than say "I'm going to lose weight/get in shape this year," or "I'm going to the gym every day," which are vague and unrealistic, I would try to be more specific.

The Best Thing To Do For Sore Necks and Shoulders
Mom and Grandma were right! You do need to sit up straight. One of the most frequent complaints we hear in physical therapy is that our patients' necks and shoulders are tight and painful, especially if they are stuck sitting at desk all day, or driving long distances. If this is a problem for you, there is a really quick way you can help yourself. If you can recognize when you are sitting with bad posture and learn how to correct it yourself, your neck and shoulder pain will improve in the long run.
