Joint Ventures will now offer Barlean’s Organic Oils, an omega fatty acid in 3 great flavors: Orange Swirl, Lemon Zest and Banana Strawberry. These are liquid fish oil and flaxseed oil. They can be added to other liquids, mixed into hot cereals or smoothies, or even taken right off a spoon! 
Omega 3 fatty acids are an essential (must be obtained through diet) fatty acid that contain two compounds, DHA and EPA. These compounds have been found to improve brain and immune system function while decreasing risk of certain cancers, heart disease and inflammation. Physical Therapy patients with inflammatory issues may benefit from them, with their doctor’s “blessing!” Omega 3 fatty acids can also be found in cold-water fish (specifically wild salmon), walnuts, avocados, macademia and flaxseed.
Fish oil supplements have become very popular lately, however, the famously large and often fishy tasting pills are a bit unpopular. In response to the dramatic increase in recommendations by various governing bodies, manufacturers have created more variety, and frankly, a more enjoyable method to obtain the recommended 1 mg of Omega 3’s daily.
Additionally Joint Ventures is offering cold, pressed Coconut Oil from Barlean’s Organic Oils. Coconut Oil is another wholesome food getting quite a bit of press lately. The Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) present in coconut oil can be digested and used for immediate energy, as opposed to other fats that are digested and typically stored as fat until needed for energy production. Additional benefits include improved heart health, favorable impact on cholesterol panels, and anti-oxidative and regenerative properties that contribute to improving skin, nails and hair.
These products are $15.00 each and available at all locations. There are product displays at our Kenmore and Kendall Square offices, but products can be delivered to any Joint Ventures location within a day!
